I lost my father to cancer when I was just 16. My life fell apart, and my childhood dream of becoming a Royal Marine felt like it was slipping through my hands. I questioned how I would ever cope. Fast forward 24 years, and life tested me again in the cruelest way imaginable. My 14-month-old daughter suddenly passed away. I spent 25 minutes giving her CPR until the air ambulance arrived. In that moment, it felt like life itself had ended. But even in the darkest times, a glimmer of light remained — a single childhood dream and the values it gave me. Per Mare, Per Terram. I was too old to ever think about a yomp, but I still live by the Royal Marines ethos: “Be the Best.” That mindset drives everything I do today — resilience, purpose, and finding beauty in the world through photography.
